Equally Divided: meet our cast

Our next production, Equally Divided, is opening on Monday and today we’re introducing you to our cast members: Ivan Limon, Peter Gardiner, Maggie Jackson and Liz Betts. Directed by Julia Armstrong, the play charts the rivalries between sisters Edith and Renata after the death of their mother. Come and join us from Monday 29 April – Saturday 4 May and see everyone for yourself.

Ivan Limon

Ivan Limon

In Equally Divided Ivan Limon plays the lawyer Charles Mowbray whose news may or may not transform the lives of the Taylor sisters. Over the last sixteen years Ivan has acted with most of the drama groups in Teesside and this is his third appearance with Billingham Players; the previous ones being The Deadly Game (2017) and I Have Been Here Before (2018). He is somewhat discomfited to notice that Billingham Players always see fit to cast him as a character a good ten years or so older than he actually is…

Peter Gardiner

Peter Gardiner

It is good to be back with the Billingham Players after nearly forty years away down south. I played Prospero  in the 6th Form at St Mary’s College and lots of roles including Cassius with Teesside Youth Theatre in the 70’s concurrently with studying Drama at Bingley College and French at Portsmouth University. I first joined Billingham Players in 1978 and played Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Hatch in Edward Bond’s The Sea. I then moved to London for work and played at the Questors Theatre in Ealing  and at Network Theatre under the arches of Waterloo Station. Notable roles include Florizel in the Winter’s Tale, Sir Gawain  with the Questors at the Minack Theatre, Porthcurno; Halder in CP Taylor’s Good and Gregori in Checkov’s The Bear. I directed Stoppard’s Arcadia for  Network Theatre in 1999. I greatly enjoyed playing Scherpinsky in last year’s production of The Railway Children (Without speaking a word of English!) I’ve had more words to learn for Equally Divided which is a nicely crafted play and I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Maggie Jackson

Maggie Jackson has appeared on stage at Billingham many times over the years, including Stevie, Vincent in Brixton and Party Pieces. Often she appears selling programmes and coffee!

Liz Betts

After many years of absence from acting.  I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to play the role of Renata Taylor in the production of Equally Divided. Although I was born and bred in Billingham it will my first time performing there. Hope everyone enjoys the play. It has been a pleasure to work with such an amazing crew.
